Why are multiple SMS sent for a single message? [
Q1047
]
Technically, a standard SMS can contain a maximum of 160 characters. If a message is longer, it is automatically split up. Each part is sent as a separate SMS so that the recipient receives the message in its entirety. On most devices, the parts are reassembled and displayed as a single continuous message. Because the concatenation header takes up space, only 153 characters are available per partial SMS. ASPSMS supports concatenated SMS of up to 9 parts, allowing messages of up to 1,377 characters in total.
